Two Wells Primary School News Letter - Term 2, Week 6, 2023
Principal's Message

At Two Wells Primary school School, we strive to provide our learners with a safe and nurturing environment. As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, we would like to address an important matter regarding works on our school premises. These classroom projects which aim to enhance the aesthetic appeal of our school and create a conducive learning environment for our learners for years to come. We are also working with the Department to ensure the TWCCC has a smooth transition to our site in term 3.
While we are excited about these improvements, it is essential to ensure the safety of everyone during these improvements.
We kindly request your cooperation in observing the following safety measures:
- Restricted Areas: During this work, certain areas of the school may be cordoned off or temporarily inaccessible to ensure the safety of learners, staff, and contractors. Please adhere to any signage or instructions and remind your children to avoid these restricted areas.
- Reporting Hazards: If you or your child notice any safety hazards or concerns related to the works, please promptly report them to the school administration. We rely on your cooperation to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
Ensuring the safety of our learners is our top priority, and we are committed to working closely with the contractors to minimise any potential risks. We appreciate your understanding, patience, and support during this process.
If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact our school office. Together, we can create a secure and inspiring learning environment for our learners.
Enjoy the long weekend

Deputy Principal's Message

Hi Parents/Guardians and Families,
Term 3 will see Two Wells Primary School participate in Premiers Be Active Challenge.
What is the Challenge?
The Premier’s be active Challenge is a physical activity program introduced by the Premier in 2007 to:
- Encourage students to be more active more often
- Improve the health and wellbeing of South Australian students.
The Challenge requires students to do at least 60 minutes of physical activity on at least 5 days of the week for at least 4 weeks between the beginning of the school year and late September.
After 4 weeks of daily physical activity, students will be rewarded with a medal. After 10 weeks of daily physical activity, schools are in the running to win $1000 to promote physical activity.
Your encouragement makes a difference
Research has shown that parental support makes a difference to how active children are. One of the biggest factors in helping children to be active is providing support to participate in physical activity. Whether that is getting them to sports, taking them to the playground, riding your bike with them or simply encouraging them outside to play, these are all things that will help your child to be active.
The Premier’s be active Challenge is most successful when parents show interest and support their children, Help your child get 60 minutes of physical activity per day and you will be making a positive difference to their future. It’s also a great way to be more active yourself!
Anaphylaxis and allergies procedure
Are we a NUT-FREE School?
It’s impossible to guarantee complete removal of all allergens from the education or care service or community. Children and young people can be at risk of anaphylaxis from many foods or insect bites. It’s not possible, nor practical, to ban or remove all food or insect allergens from an education or care service.
We appreciate it may give parents or carers, and children and young people suffering from allergies, a false sense of security and assume the education or care service is free from a specific allergen, for example nut-free.
It’s more important for TWPS to develop appropriate risk minimisation strategies and consider children and young people with anaphylaxis.
Food: the main trigger for allergic reactions in infants, children and adolescents. In Australia, there are 10 foods that cause 95% of food-induced allergic reactions including cow’s milk, tree nuts, peanuts, shellfish, fish, sesame seeds, eggs, soy, wheat and lupin.
Creating allergy-aware education and care services can minimise the risk of exposure for children and young people. This includes but not limited to:
- Teachers at TWPS providing explicit teaching around allergies and preventative measures to keep safe
- Parents minimising the food provided to their children that can cause an Anaphylaxic reaction(s)
- Students not sharing food
We thank you in advance for the support and understanding. We also encourage you to keep the school up to date with any medical care plans that will help to support your child.
Kind Regards
Darrell Avery
Autism Inclusive Teacher-Miss Rosie

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As the Autism Inclusion Teacher at Two Wells Primary School, I would like to open the line of communication between the school and the families of our Autistic students. I want to invite you to an Autism Parents Group we will hold weekly at Two Wells Primary School.
The aim of this group is for everyone to feel understood, supported and allowed to build positive relationships within the school community through a common bond. Raising a child with Autism can sometimes feel lonely, overwhelming and frustrating. Still, when success is achieved, the benefits are extraordinary and should be shared and appreciated. I hope you have the opportunity to share your experiences and create friendships within the Two Wells Primary Community. The saying “It takes a village to raise a child” could not be more accurate than with our children (I have an Autistic child myself). This is achieved through collaboration, non-judgement, positivity, and safe sharing spaces.
Through this ongoing support network, we hope you feel more connected and empowered, realising a place of belonging within the Two Wells Primary. I am available on the following days and times to coordinate the group. Please contact the school, indicating your availability if you are interested in attending.
Options include: Monday mornings 8:50-9:30 or Wednesday afternoons 2:30-3:05. I look forward to future networking opportunities with you all. Please get in touch with me at the school for further enquiries about this group.
Kind regards,
Rosie Sarakinis
